RCB won the toss and chose to bat first. DD won the toss and put RCB to bat first. It was not a good day for the big stars in RCB unit Gayel& Watto didn’t contribute much. But as we know good things come in small package. Once again Kedar Jadhav played one of his best knocks in recent time if not the best to rescue RCB. RCB scraped their way to 157/8 by the end of 20 overs. It was Chinnaswami with short boundaries and good surface the total looked below par. Also RCB bowling unit is not very reliable either.Kedar

On the other hand, DD is playing their Season opener, the don’t have much experience in their batting unit as the likes of Duminy, decock were ruled out of this edition IPL due to injury andShreyash iyer also missed the trip due to illness. As expected the inexperience played its part and they lost wickets at quick intervals. Most of it due to bad short selection. Only young Pant showed promise & heart to make a quality 57 but with very little support at the other end, his knock went in vain as DD fell short by 15 runs. RCB didn’t win it easy, with Pant in one end till second last over match was in balance. But Mishra played a highly irresponsible inning as he faced the penultimate over bowled by the likes of Watson. Just with his wild swing & miss he just eased the pressure of RCB 6 runs off 12 balls was his figure. Thus with 19 runs to go in last over. Even Pant couldn’t take DD home from there as RCB marched on to their first win of this season.

Vivo IPL 2017 M5 - RCB v DD

Overall this game was a treat to Indian cricket fans more than anyone. Both Jadhav & Pant showed they are hard hitters of the cricket ball, at the same time they can play sensible cricket and take the attack when needed to the opposition. With Champions Trophy around the corner, let us hope these two continue their great run to give more headaches to Indian selectors. These two made my day: A very Happy Indian cricket fan as I hit my bed today.
