It’s a virtual first Quarter-final of Group B, as both SA& Ind taken on each other following their surprise defeat in the previous game against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
It is going to be a daunting task for the Indian team to defeat a mighty SA unit. SA had a bad day with the bat against Pakistan but that doesn’t make them weak by any measure. The likes of Decock, Amla, ABD, Faf, Miller, and Duminy can take apart any bowling attack on their day. But one sign of moral relief Indian team can possess is that SA have never defeated India in Champions trophy till date and in every knockout game of ICC events SA team have the habit of bringing their worst game out of the blue.
On the other had Indian team must have a serious look at their team balance and cannot go with 4 quicks against this mighty SA unit. Also with 3 left-hand batters in the lineup playing Ashwin as the prime spinner is a no brainer. Shami having done well in warm-up games is a must for this high-voltage encounter. Umesh Yadav might make way for Shami. Likely Playing 11 for India: Dhawan, Rohit, Virat, Yuvi, MS, Kedar, Jaddu, Ashwin, Bhuvi, Shami, Bumrah.
SA has a good balance but one and only concern they have is expensive Waney Parnell. He as leaked runs in power play all along which has hurt them in Pakistan defeat too. It is also true that they don’t have any quality replacement for him as a backup. So a change they can bring about is to make Morris open attack with Rabada and use Parnell post first 10 over of power play to give him some protection to bowl with.
Thus with these changes, both teams will be hard to handle for each other. It should be a mouth-watering contest. At the end of the day, I tip India to overcome the battle as they are better at holding the nerve in comparison to SA.
